Tribute To Boston Marathon Victims Run Today at Memorial Park, Houston 6:00PM Central

As an endurance athlete I am hurting more and more as the details come out about the tragic events that occurred at the Boston Marathon yesterday.  The ones that were most impacted were those that support us as runners, the spectators, that consists of family members, friends, and fellow runners.

Yesterday Bill Richard was dedicating his finish to his family.  His wife, two son's (Martin and Henry), daughter (Jane), and wife (Denise) were waiting to see him right before the finish.  They were doing what they have done countless times.  They were watching their Daddy/Husband finish.

Sadly when the bomb went off, it took 8 year old Martin's life, Jane's leg, and Denise is undergoing surgeries for brain trauma.  Henry was shielded from the blast and did not sustain injury.  Bill is obviously devastated from the situation.

When I was dealing with Shawn's medical issues, I used running and training as a temporary refuge to from the pain and stress.  It helped me get back to perspective so we could deal everything that was happening.  It was somehow healing.

In honor of the Boston Marathon victims, I plan deviate from my normal routine today to do what those impacted by the blast came to see. I am going to Memorial Park in Houston, TX and running a tribute lap (3 miles). For those that want to join me and run as a group, I will start at 6:00pm at the stretching area. Let's us provide healing together.  If you happen to have any Boston Marathon gear or can please wear blue and yellow to the tribute run it will be greatly appreciated.
